Columbus, GA- Bruce D. Sanborn, 71, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10 am at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907, with Dr. Hank Avera officiating. Committal service will be at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at 12:30 pm EDT.
Bruce D. Sanborn was born April 8, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Irwin F. and Dorothy Sanborn. Bruce was a 1962 Baker High School graduate who received a Criminal Justice Degree from Columbus State University, a graduate of the National FBI Academy and National Training Center of Polygraph Science. Bruce was a proud Air Force Veteran and later became Director of Internal Security for the Columbus Housing Authority and also served as Chief of Police in Manchester, Georgia. His hobbies included racquetball, fishing, boxing and art.
Other than his parents Bruce is preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years Patricia Sanborn. He is survived by two daughters Sandra (Dave) Turner, Sylvia Connelly of Columbus, GA, son Douglas Sanborn, step son Cheston W. Harris of Columbus, GA, two brothers Irwin F. (Alice) Sanborn Jr. of Hoover, AL, James E. Sanborn of Columbus, GA, sister Cynthia Lucas (Douglas) West Point, GA and four granddaughters Brennan Turner, Makenna Turner, Ava Connelly and Jocie Heinemann.
Bruce was a loving Husband, Father, Brother and Friend who will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice House 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, Georgia 31909

Edwin A Keeney (1962)

When God sent His angels to bring you home He had His reasons. someday we will be able to ask why; but for now we offer our prayers for peace and comfort to those left behind. RIP Brother.

Jacqueline Tillman (Harty) (1962)

One of my favorites buddies from the magical high school days we enjoyed at Baker.  Have been praying since I learned Bruce had died.
