In Memory

Michael Grow - Class Of 1973

Michael Walker Grow, 64, of Scottsville, KY passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, hand-in-hand with his brother.  Michael was born 22 December 1955 at Fort Benning, Georgia to Robert Marshall Grow and Barbara Joy (Van Schaack) Grow.  Michael (Mike) was always a gentle soul, diligently seeking the true light of life and achieving his goal at the age of 37 when he discovered his Lord Jesus Christ.  His journey led him through many travels and occupations to include serving in the U.S. Army in the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm in 1991.  His conversion to Christianity began in earnest in 1993 at Tucson, Arizona.  At his dad's recommendation, Mike began attending a local church and, shortly thereafter as he studied the holy scripture, became convinced of his need for Jesus, the Saviour of the World.  Mike's zeal for God and thirst for truth and understanding continued to blaze on throughout the remainder of his life.

Mike became very involved in the University of Arizona Campus Crusade for Christ, the African Inland Mission, and various independent evangelical missions in Africa, Asia and Europe.  From the time of his conversion, Mike's entire love and focus was sharing the Good News of Salvation with the world, and especially with those of the Muslim faith.  Mike's joy and peace was in his love for the Lord Jesus, his ever-diligent thirst for God's truth and in true Christian fellowship.  Mike fought many spiritual battles in his journey. The last was with his affliction from bone cancer which began to cause him problems in June 2019  Throughout this battle, Mike's faith (trust in God) never wavered.  The Lord's will was Mike's desire.  Praise the Lord!

Mike was preceded in eternal life by his mom, Barbara Joy (Van Schaack) Grow and survived by his dad, Robert Marshall Grow; his brothers:  Thomas Derrick Grow and Robert Patrick Grow and their families.

Mike's ashes will be dispersed in a private ceremony over the family's Kentucky farm which he loved and contributed to so much.  In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to LUV (Lift Up the Vulnerable), an organization that Mike supported for many years through the sponsorship of three orphaned children in war-torn Sudan and South Sudan.  https://liftupthevulnerable.org
