Deena Massie (Johnston) (1973)

Ron was my first husband and was killed when we were struck by a drunk driver on Sept. 3, 1979. He was three days short of turning 24. Our 15-month-old daughter was also killed.

Ron was my preachers son and one of my favorites at church. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a mischivious twinkle in his eyes. I have a lot of good teen years memories of Benning Park Baptist's churches activities and growing faith in God. My parents and his parents remained friends from all those years including a week ago when i sang at his mothers (Henrietta) funeral. I have fun memories of Ron and always will. I thought it was so terribly awful for him to lose his life and that of his child also in such a trajic and un-necessary accident. Debbie Ward Johnpeer

Ron was an acquaintance of mine while I attended BHS. He was an out-going and fun loving guy. The thing I remember most about him was the sparkle in his eyes. When you looked at him you never were sure what he was up too, but for one thing you had better look out! I was sadden to read that he is no longer with us and even more so to read that Deena not only lost her husband but her young daughter too. My heart and prayers go with you. But know that he and your daughter are looking down and watching over you until you meet again. God bless.

Cathy Elaine Rollins (Guyer) (1976)

Having attended Benning Park Baptist Church for as long as I can remember I knew Ronald Flowers well. I remember him at Baker, we had the same lunch period.
At one of the church's softball games Ronald's pants were
being pulled down as he ran the bases...he had no belt and was barefoot; so as he ran his pants slid down so that he was stepping on the bottom of his pants legs pulling them down further.
He was always a caring person with an easy smile. I was still living at home the morning the telephone rang one of the members of Benning Park was calling to tell us of the accident and he and his daughters death. I was stunned. His life ended too early. He is missed.

How well I remember Ronald from BHS. This guy could play some serious baseball! I was at that same game that Cathy was speaking of.........this was such a funny site to see and watch, to bad no one had a video at this game to film! It would have been a good memory that Ronald would approve and laugh at to show again and again! Us Baker Lions were always determined till the end. My heart was saddened to hear about Roanlds death along with his baby girl, and always prayers for Deena to have a minded heart along with his family members remaining! This was a "twinkle star" that had a zeal for life and it was taken from him at such a young age. He will not be with us face to face at any BHS reunions but in spirit he will! Knowing how Ronald was....he would say, Roar lions roar!! Bring it on for BHS! Yeah! Always in heart my friend!
