Duane Herndon was born March 1941 and died of cancer at 59 years old. We don't know the exact date he passed but sometime in 2000. He was living in Columbus, GA a the time. He was survived by his son and grandchildren.
Duane was a childhood and an adult friend. We grew up in the same neighborhood on Torch Hill. A group of us; Mike Leslie, David Dupriest, Duane, and I all grew up together in that same neighborhood. We were all childhood friends, graduated from Baker within a year of each other, and are still friends today.
Duane remained in Columbus after graduation, started a business, and lived all his life there, while I have lived and worked other places. I saw Duane only a couple of times after I graduated from Baker and left Columbus, I wish now it had been more. We stayed friends all our lives.
Duane died at 59 years of age, he was a good, honest man.
I miss you buddy, you died way too young. Rest in peace.
