Velma Paulette Baugh (Hartley)

Velma Paulette Hartley

December 22, 1941 ~ July 5, 2016 (age 74)

Velma Paulette Hartley, “Oochee”, 74 years old, of Columbus, Georgia, marched into heaven on July 5, 2016. The celebration of her life will be held at Solid Rock Assembly of God. Pastors Jay Bailey and Tommy Bradford will conduct her celebration at 2:00 pm on July 16, 2016.

Velma was born in Waterloo, Iowa on December 22, 1941. She graduated from Baker High School in 1959.  Upon graduation, she began, what would become, a magical journey.  She and Felton raised three children, all of whom were loved passionately. They walked hand in hand as God blessed each moment of their lives. They held on tight through challenges and came out stronger and more in love with each other and God. They laughed, joked, and truly raised a village.  Each person who was blessed to be known and loved by Oochee, came away enriched, knowing they were individually cherished.  She placed her family second to Jesus and loved both with abandon.

Velma was married to Felton Hartley Jr. on November, 22, 1959. They were married 56 incredible years.

Velma had many jobs over her lifetime. She was a franchise owner and founded V.P. Galerie and T.T.P. She was an entrepreneur and business consultant for 30 years. Her passions were many. However, the interwoven thread among them all was her creative brilliance. She was a Girl Scout leader, PTA President, 4-H leader, baseball coach, team mom, and gardener. She attended Solid Rock Assembly of God.

Velma is survived by husband, Felton Hartley, sister Renea Mareno, daughters Shawna Hartley and Dana Weiler, son Ken Hartley, son-in-law Dean Weiler, grandchildren Shea Lindblad, Thomas Lindblad, Jared Weiler, Gage Hartley, Maggie Denson, Birdie Hartley, Rane Hartley, Malia Hartley, great grand-children Alivia, Sofia, and Alex Jeffrey Lindblad. and other family and friends.

Velma’s home in heaven has been kept by her parents Kenny and Myrna Hahn, in-laws Felton and Louise Hartley and grandson Adam Joseph Dunaiski.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Columbus Hospice in her honor. The family of Velma Hartley wish to thank her loving family and devoted friends for a life journey that was filled with faith, laughter, and infinite love.
