Martha Gibson Long, 87, went to be with her Lord, under the care of Columbus Hospice, Wednesday December 7, 2016. The family will welcome guests for visitation Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Hilton Terrace Baptist Church, 2236 Warm Springs Rd. Mrs. Long was born November 15, 1929 to her late parents John and Burma Worley Gibson. After graduating from Baker High School, Martha was employed by Georgia Power Company until the birth of her son, at which time she chose to be a stay at home mom. She continued her music ministry first as Organist for Porter Memorial Baptist Church and later moved her talents to Hilton Terrace Baptist Church until she retired due to health issues. Martha could read music, but was able to play almost any song on the organ and piano without the written music by just listening to it. She loved to sing, and often sang in quartets and duets with family and friends. Martha was very giving of her talents, her time and money. Her mailbox was often full of monetary gifts to Christian Organizations as well as the worldwide needs of others. Martha was adored by her son and late husband and dearly loved by her family. We will see her again in Heaven. Until then, we will keep her memory in our hearts.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Long; brothers and sister in-laws, L.A. (Ruby) Gibson and William Wortham (Dorothy) Gibson, Sr.; sister Vivian Gibson; nephew William "Bill" Wortham Gibson, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are; son, Robert "Robbie" D Long; nieces, Dorothy Loretta Britt, Shirley Anne Gibson (James) Williamson, and Rubye Renee Gibson (Allen) Bell; other family members and many, many friends.
