Barbara Ensley Alexich departed this earthly life Monday, February 9, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Parkhill Cemetery with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. Born on June 27, 1931 in Columbus, Georgia, she was the only child of Ralph Adolphus and Madge Tabb Ensley. She was a 1948 graduate of Baker High School where she was the first drum majorette. In the early 1960's, she became a member of the small group of female realtors in Columbus as an agent for Teal Realty, Morelock Wade, and Carter Realty and served as the secretary for the local Society for Real Estate Appraisers. She was a trained pianist, a trained alto soloist, a dyed-in-the-wool Episcopalian, and a great lover of all classical music and opera. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Callaway Gardens in the group reservation department. Other than her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Michael Dushan Alexich. Survivors include the father of her children: Mladjan Alexich; two daughters, Irene Alexich Pate (Michael) of Columbus, and Catherine Alexich Steffen of Vine Grove, Kentucky; son: Marcus Dimitrius Alexich (Dianne) of Plant City, Florida; three grandsons, and four great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to Columbus Hospice House, www.columbushospice.com, 7020 Moon Rd Columbus, Georgia 31909 in her memory.
