Lila Sue Darland died of heart problems after surgery on  April -21-2009 at the age of 76.  She was living in Wake Forest, NC. She is survived By: Bob Allport (son), Vicki (Allport) Benyak(daughter), David Allport (son), Stella (Missy Allport) Edwards (daughter). and John Allport (son).

"Sue Allport was a former Baker graduate from 1949 and was a classmate along with the late Honorable J. R. Allen, Settled down in the Columbus area, married my Dad, 1st Sgt. Robert Allport stationed at Fort Benning. A loving mother of five kids, four (4) of which were Baker High School attendees. The youngest brother went to the new Spencer High School in south Columbus, after Baker was closed. She moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina, after my father died in 1992 to live with her youngest daughter until her death. She was active in Eastern Star and a member of the Fort Benning Lodge as was my father who was a Mason there as well. She had 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a good christian who loved her family, her friends and her Lord. May she rest in peace now along side my father forevermore. "  ~~Bob Allport '70
