Nathan Eugene Cobb, 86, of Oak Ridge, TN died Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Oak Ridge. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Watson McKemie officiating according to Striffler – Hamby. Mr. Cobb was born October 4, 1929 in Donaldsonville, Georgia the son of the late Walter and Teanie White Cobb. He was the oldest of six children. Nathan graduated from Baker High School, Class of 1949 in Columbus. He was an outstanding athlete excelling in football as team captain, and in basketball. He spent six years in the U.S. Air Force, returning to Columbus where he was a brick layer until his retirement. Nathan was preceded in death by his second wife, Jewel Brown Cobb; siblings, Geneva Cobb Frazier and husband Delbert, Jo Cobb Cannon and husband, Ray, and Bascom Cobb. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Blanton Cobb; two sons, by his first wife, Josephine Blackshear Cobb Hasty; Ty Cobb and his wife, Shirley and Alan Cobb; three grandchildren, Travis Cobb, Erin Cobb, and Joshua Cobb and his wife, Bell; great-grandchildren, Skyler Brown and Gabriel Cobb; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Norman Cobb and wife, Rita and Carolyn Cobb Ballard and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Jo Cobb. I have very fond memories of Nathan.  He was such agreat athlete.  I was very proud to be a  

Majorette at that time and had lots of fun times at Baker High School.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Nathan's family.  May he rest in peace.
