Phenix City, AL- Betty Gannon Nason, 85, of Phenix City, AL, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bradford McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. The following will serve as active pallbearers: Bill Nason, Jr., Daron Nason, James Richard Nason, Larry Nason, Ryan Nason, and Shaun Driggers. The family will receive friends Monday, January 7, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 613 14th Street, Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mrs. Nason was born April 26, 1927 in Ft. Benning, GA, daughter of the late Pippin Gordon Gannon and Ophelia Hill Gannon. She was a graduate of Baker High School. She retired after more than 25 years of service with Civil Service as a household goods inspector. She was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship, Friends of the Library in Phenix City - Russell Co., Historic Linwood Foundation, and Historic Columbus Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marchant Nason, and brothers-in-law, Jack Nason (Maureen), Bill Nason, Sr. and Carol W. Nason.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Nason of Dothan, AL; brother, Raymond Brown (Lillian) of Hemet, CA; brother-in-law, George Nason (Pam) of Phenix City, AL; sisters-in-law, Alice Nason of Phenix City, AL and Libby Nason of Norwood, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
