Ruth Brady VIEW PROFILE

Ruth Mosley Brady
November 13, 1919 - December 20, 2015

Ruth Mosley Brady died peacefully at her home on December 20, 2015.
She was born in Barnesville, GA on November 13, 1919 to the late Ellis Parker and Phoebe Laing Mosley. She spent many of her formative years not only in Barnesville but Macon and Atlanta, GA. Beside her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Lt. Col. Hugh H. Brady (Ret); a daughter, Janet Brady; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Mosley and Josephine Phoebe Howard and granddaughter Donna Ann Adamson.
She is survived by a brother, E. Parker Mosley, Jr. Kingwood, TX.; daughters Jolissa Brady Adamson, St. Louis, MO.; Linda Brady Rogers (Van Young), Decatur, GA.; and Christi Brady Maginn (Dennis), ST. Louis, MO.; grandchildren Christopher Hugh Rogers (Christine), Augusta, GA.; Andrew Brady Stalker, Copenhagen, Denmark; Capt. Brian Joseph Maginn, Ft. Hood, TX.; and Kelsey Laing Maginn, Ft. Collins, CO.
After WWII, her husband, who had been awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and French Fourragere, remained in the Army and Ruth and family followed him to posts in Okinawa, Japan; Ft. Lewis Washington; Gelnhausen, Germany; Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; Flint Michigan and Ft. Benning, GA. While stationed in Michigan at 43 years of age, Ruth realized a longtime dream of earning a college degree graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Michigan and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She then became an outstanding and somewhat demanding English teacher and head of the English Department at Baker High School, Columbus, Ga where she remained for some 20 years until retirement in 1982. While vibrant and vivacious all of her life, she loved her quiet time, reading, painting and listening to classical music and opera on her favorite NPR station. Polite and unassuming but never hesitant to correct one's grammar or use of a wrong word ("ww"), she will be missed but never forgotten.
Her family wishes to thank the kindness and care given to her by Columbus based Home Instead and Hospice Advantage.
Visitation will be from 4-6pm, on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby.
Burial will follow at Fort Benning National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to NPR station WTJB 91.7 Troy University Public Radio, Troy University Troy, Ala. 36082.
