I graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, in June 1969. Having been classified 4-F my junior year, from a rare lung dis-order, I went to work for Sears as a management trainee in New Orleans. That is where I met my wife, Susan Maria Lynd; she was working part-time at one of the training stores - our first date was August 15, 1969. We were married in 1972. With Sears I managed stores in LaPlace, LA., Atlanta (Mall West End), GA, Douglasville, GA, Rome, GA, Albany, GA and Shelby, NC.
During this same period my wife's full-time job was with the government. Retired from Marine Corps Logistic Base Albany-42 years.

I remember our Senior year when all of the Ft. Benning crowd skipped school for the first day the officer's club pool was open. We got caught. It turns out I was the only one with a real excuse from his parents. Mr. Strealdorf(?) was pissed when my dad told him he had signed it because I was a "good" boy and needed a day off.
