Billy Wayne Walker

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- Billy Wayne Walker, age 63, passed away on August 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Saturday, August 13 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Mr. Walker was born on September 3, 1947 in Rapid City, SD to the late William L. Walker and Opal Turney Walker. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the 82nd Airborne and continued his service for 18 years until retirement. Mr. Walker was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and loved his country. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his brother, Roger D. Walker of Atlanta, GA; two children, Kelly D. Walker of Conway, SC and Jared S. Walker of Phenix City, AL; a daughter-in-law, Kim Walker of Columbus; two grandchildren, Brittiany Nickole Walker and Jordan McKenzie Walker; three nieces, Tammy Sutherland, Christy Barbee and Rebecca Walker; his best friend and love of his life, Linda Jackson and many other friends and extended family.
