Johnnie Steven Mason, 72, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 12:30 PM EDT Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Charles Keown officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM EDT at the funeral home.

Mr. Mason was born August 24, 1945 in Pineville, KY to the late Johnnie H. Mason and Nezbaline Martin Mason. He served as General Manager and was retired from Bickerstaff Brick Company with 22 years of service. He served our country proudly and was a Veteran of the United States Marines serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed traveling, beach, and was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Mr. Mason was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lyn Grove Mason.
He is survived by one son, Johnnie Steven Mason, II and a daughter, Amy Burgess Butler and husband Beau Butler all of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Brenda Belk and husband Billy of Salem, AL, and two grandchildren, Skye Mason and Justin Burgess, numerous other family members, and many caring friends.
