Columbus, GA

Jill Hayson Brooker, 73, of Columbus, GA passed away at her home on April 9, 2019.

Jill was the daughter of Frank and Marjorie Hayson. She was born on April 9, 1946 in Astoria, Oregon.

Graveside Funeral services will be held in Parkhill Cemetery on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 3:30 PM with Reverend Andy Merritt and Reverend Jim Hilderbrand officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.

Jill was a proud ‘military brat’ and loved traveling with her parents to Japan, Germany, and many other duty stations as they followed her father during his career in the US Army. Jill and her family came to live in Columbus Georgia while her father was stationed at Fort Benning and remained in Columbus after he retired. Jill graduated from Baker High School, class of 1964. After graduation she attended Perry Business College and she retired from Martin Army Medical Hospital as a Civil Service Administrative Assistant.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marjorie Hayson. She leaves behind her two daughters, Stephanie Owen (Chris) and Adrianne Brooker (Jason), a son, Ryan Brooker (Laura), her two brothers, Frank Hayson (Peggy) and Jack Hayson, along with eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She spent countless hours hand making hats and blankets for the NICU at Piedmont Columbus Regional. She also made baby items for Sound Choices Pregnancy Clinic. We will never know this side of heaven how many hearts she touched and lives were changed through her faithful service.

Jill lived in her home for nearly 45 years and loved spending time caring for her flower garden and visiting with neighbors. She was such a happy and kind person and a very talented artist. Her faith in God gave her the strength to make it through some very challenging times in life. She treasured and loved her family more than anything in this world and devoted her entire life to her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed until we can all be together again.
