Carol Ann Benton Shake, 70, of Columbus, GA died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Shake was born March 4, 1946 in Eufaula, AL daughter of the late Claude M. Benton, Sr. and Emma Woolfe Benton. She was a graduate of Baker High School and retired with the Civil Service as a purchasing agent. Mrs. Shake was also Baptist by faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Owen Benton and Tony Lee Ward, and her sister, Lola Benton Flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Shake, son, Michael Shake, brother, Sonny Benton (Jackie) all of Columbus, GA and several nieces and nephews.

I got to know Carol her senior year at BHS. She was good friends with my girlfriend and lived very close to the Drakes. We lost touch after she graduated and as it turned out we both worked civil service at Ft. Benning. I sure wished I had known that then. It would have been fun to talk to her about old times.
