Jerry Williams - Class Of 1960


ALBANY,GA -- Jerry Williams of Leesburg died Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence. Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Kimbrell-Stern at 11:00AM. A rosary was held on Monday evening at 7:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Jerry was a native of Columbus, GA and graduated from Baker High School in 1960. After serving his country in the Navy, he moved to Heath, OH in 1964 where he was married to his wife Marty and they started their family. In 1978, Jerry, Marty, and their four children moved and settled in Albany, GA where he worked for the Marine Corp Logistics Base as a computer programmer, retiring from this job in 1997. He then worked for Cooper Tire in their Information Technology unit until his full time retirement in 2007. He and Marty built and moved to their current home in Leesburg, GA in 2001. Jerry was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and a devoted helper at Albany Community Hospice where he was recognized for his many hours of volunteer service. He was passionate about Ohio State and Georgia Bulldog football. He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed making furniture for others and various charitable organizations. He and Marty enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada during his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Martha of Leesburg, two sons, Ted Williams of Richland and David Williams of Cumming, two daughters, Linda Stevens(Neal) of Leesburg and Jill W. FitzGerald(Edward) of Atlanta, one brother, Ron Williams(Treasure) of Jacksonville,FL, two sisters, Betty Jyachosky of Waverlee Hall and Doris Manning(Jim) of Midland, GA., six grandchildren, Trent, Jake and Sydney Stevens and Evan, Russell and Damilo Williams.

Memorials may be made to St Teresas Catholic Church Building Fund, 421 Edgewood Lane, Albany, GA 31707 or Albany Community Hospice at 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707.
