Norman J. “Norm” McCullough II

March 3, 1942 ~ February 21, 2018 (age 75)
 

Norman J. “Norm” McCullough II, 75, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed away while surrounded by his loved ones Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA. 


A celebration of life will be held pond-side, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. EST at the McCullough home, 1163 Highway 165 in Fort Mitchell, AL. Dress is casual.


Norm was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  Norm was a Columbus native and a 1960 graduate of Baker High School. In 1964, he married his high school and life-long sweetheart, Barbara Ann Mundy. Norm served in the United States Army and Reserves. 
 

Norm graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Georgia in 1967. He started his business career working as a CPA before joining the W.C. Bradley Company.
  

During his tenure at the W.C. Bradley Company, Norm served in many executive leadership positions including Vice President Finance of the W.C. Bradley Company, CEO of The Game, and Vice President Finance for Char-Broil. He retired from the W.C. Bradley Company in 1999 after 26 years of service. Following 2 years of retirement, Norm was recruited back into the business world where he served as CEO of the Columbus Clinic for seven years before retiring again in 2009.


Norm spent his retirement enjoying time in the outdoors with family and friends, as well as traveling the U.S. He was a gentleman farmer, avid outdoorsman and conservationist. He grew prized muscadine and scuppernong vines and blueberry bushes, and he enjoyed making new friends by sharing the fruits of his and Barbara’s labors. He loved to learn, especially about the outdoors. He mentored numerous sportsmen, both young and old, and loved sharing his knowledge of and passion for the outdoors. When he was not hunting or fishing, he and Barbara were turning their property into a forest and wildlife preserve, which is a recognized Alabama Treasure Forest.


Norm was born March 3, 1942 in Fort Benning, GA to the late Norman and Edith McCullough. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; two daughters, Kim Gray of Phenix City, AL and Kelley Robertson (Mark) of Alexandria, VA; one son, Norman J. “Mac” McCullough III (Velvet) of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren:  Hayden, Anna, Ally, Will and Josh; and two great grandsons:  Parker and Cooper.

Flowers will be accepted. Those who desire may make honorariums to Columbus Hospice or Easter Seals of West Georgia.
