Bobby Ammons, Sr.
June 15, 1933 - March 15, 2012
THE VILLAGES, FL- Bobby R. Ammons Sr., age 78, died Thursday, March 15th, 2012. Mr. Ammons had been a Little League Baseball and Football coach, was a member of the Jaycees, The Rotary club, a Mason and an active member of the Methodist Church. He was also involved in Mission Work in several 3rd world countries.
He led both COPACO and Fulton Paper Companies to new heights in sales during his tenure of 50 plus years in the paper business.
Although Bobby played football at Florida State from 1952 until 1954, he was always an avid Auburn University fan.
He moved to The Villages in 2008 from Eatonton, GA, lived in Albany, GA, prior to that and prior to that his hometown of Columbus, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ammons, The Villages; son, Bobby Ammons, Jr., (Tomi) Waleka, FL; daughter, Kim Ammons Bentley, Phenix City, AL;, daughter, Kim Carter, (Gary) of Atlanta, GA, and five grandchildren, Joshua and Cameron Carter, Whitney and Abby Willis, Erin Ammons, and a godchild, Amberlee Wilkes. Other survivors include sister, Brenda Ammons Eldredge and a loving brother and sister-in-law, Milton H. (Cootie) Parks and Gayle Parks.
He was pre-deceased by his son, Paul Eldredge (Skipper) Ammons.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages at 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages, FL 32162 on Saturday March 24th at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Villages Hospice House, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 or New Covenant United Methodist Church at 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages, FL 32162.
