October 27, 1941 - February 28, 2023 Mansfield, GA - Billy Eugene Bender, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the age of 81. Mr. Bender honorably served his country in the United States Airforce. He lived most of his life in Orange County, California, and Los Angeles, California, where he met the love of his life, Sherrill. Since 2003 Mr. Bender kept residency in both California and Mansfield until residing permanently in Mansfield in 2016. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, coaching youth baseball, listening to country music, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Bender was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Eugene and Carol Bender. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sherrill Bender; daughters, Christine Bender (Ronald), Kathleen Bender; sons, Gregory Bender, Ryan Bender; grandchildren, David Bender, Dr. Melissa Rienstra, Celeste Bender, Kayla Britton; sister, Sandra Faye Burk; brother, Gary Carlton Bender, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service for Mr. Bender will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Georgia with Pastor Rob Rienstra officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Saturday, April 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
