Joe Burris - Class Of 1968

Joe Burris

Joseph Warn Burris III (Joe) of Fortson, GA., passed away April 14, 2021, after a brief illness.

Joe was a 1968 graduate of Baker High School and served in the US Air Force. After leaving the service in 1979 as a SSGT, he lived and worked in California, coming back to Fortson in 2018 when he retired.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, JW Burris Jr., his beloved mother, Caroline A. Burris, and his nephew, Scott A. Collins.

Joe leaves behind two sisters, Beverly (Burris) Webb of Fortson, GA. and Donna (Burris) Brown of Clarksville, TN.; three nephews, Kenneth (Tamara) Webb of Cataula, GA., Taavi Yusuf (Kevin Anderson) of Phenix City, AL., and Jason (Brandi) Collins of Ingleside, TX., and several great nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Joe will be missed by all those who loved and knew him.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Joe was a high school friend and fellow bumb. I guess we are are all just getting older.  Rest In Peace Joe.

Debbie Woodard (Ballew) (1970)

Joe was a great guy. We spent lots of time together in high schook, I dated his best friend and Joe was always the sweetest friend to me. We exchanged messages almost 20 years ago, he was the same Joe. It hurts to know you are gone. You were loved.

sure was sad to hear of Joe's passing. He and I attended elementary thru BHS together. Sure gonna miss him at our reunions. RIP

Played little legague baseball and went to Eddy and Baker together.Good guy.

Ray Buran (1968)

Joe, we shared some great times through Eddie and Baker. You were a hell of a medium between the have and the have nots. I appreciated that. As you soar through the surly bonds reach out and touch the face of God.
