I worked with Nick at Ft. Benning.  He was a very smart dude and had a quick mind.  Nick never forgot anything and would remind you of it if you ever got in a argument.  I will miss him.

I guess I knew you Ken, as well as a neighbor could. I'm not sure, but I believe we walked up to Benning Hills Elementary together. You were a year younger than Bob and I. In today's vernacular, you could say we 'hung together'. We played pickup ball, be it basketball, football or baseball, it didn't matter. You had a fierce competitive nature that just would not let you come in 2nd. At times I simply hated you! But then the next morning we were right back to walking to school together. Gotta admit though, Bob sometimes had to play referee for us. I'm sitting here tonight wondering just what it was we argued about. No actual fights of course, but some pretty rough tackles or posting up under the basket. Kenny, you even played 'HORSE' with a passion! Haha! But I'm wondering Kenny, and honestly, I can't remember a single thing we argued about except sports. Oh! And Ford vs. Plymouth or Chevy's vs. anything. Gotta count that.

Yes, I remember you Kenneth Nickerson. I remember a preteen neighbor who became a teenage friend. And it's all good Kenny, all good. Recently, when Bob wrote that he lost you several years back, I felt that sting of remorse for not being around to tell you personally what your friendship meant to those who knew you. To me.  I do remember you Kenneth, and I'll not forget. In my 67th year, my memories are slipping away a little, so me writing to you like this will help me to remember. Little trick I learned from prof. what's his name in statistics 101 I think. Should have written that one down too.

I'm not one for using initials as shortcuts Kenneth, so I'll close with REST IN PEACE.

My friend, I'll talk to you latter.
