Michael Lauderdale - Class Of 1967

Michael Lauderdale

Michael David Lauderdale died in an airplane crash in 1982.

At our Class of 67 20th reunion, Monica Johnson ('67) told me that David passed away. He was a passenger on th Air Florida Flight 90 that crashed into the Potomac. Here's a link to a list of passengers on the flight https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1982/01/15/plane-crash-casualty-list/80b397a4-6976-448d-8b3a-5a1f0e82ca29/?utm_term=.9a9eecd4c25d I just learned that anyone could report this. His younger brother Chris was in the BHS Class of 1969.

I remember when the plane crashed and saw "Michael David Lauderdale" as perishing.  I learned that it was our David and I believe I was told he was a pilot for Florida Air and was riding in the jumpseat as a passenger to get back home.  Does anyone know if this is accurate.  It was such a tragedy.

Yes, Michael David Lauderdale was a passenger on Flt 90.  He was riding in the very aft section of the aircraft and was killed. He loved Baker and inspired many of us, including me to strive for better things.

Chris, thanks for affirming David's love for Baker. We had many conversations and laughs about Baker on the school bus his first year at Baker. I really enjoyed knowing him and being in classes with him. He was smart and fun. It was sad learning that his life was cut short.

Rest in peace.  Sorry to hear the loss of another Baker family.
