Comments:

Enrolled at University of South Carolina in 1977 but decided to get full time job instead and began working at the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation in Oct of 1977. Remained there until Dec 1978 when I left to move to Charleston, SC and marry the love of my life...A sailor named Fred Lucas (class of 74/75). Moved to Chicago, Ill in Oct of 79 to be with my husband as he attended Nuclear Training School at Great Lakes Naval Base. We returned to SC in Dec of 1980. In August we were given the great news that a baby was on the way. In 1983 Fred decided not to reenlist again and we moved from Charleston to Columbia, SC. I went back to the Highway Department and worked there until August of 1984 when I was informed that another baby was on the way. Mostly I have remained a stay at home Mom and I love it. In 1997 I returned to college but didnt' finish yet again.. these days I am a stay at home Grandma raising my 7 year old granddaughter while my daughter attends Newberry College finishing up a Biology Degree with a minor in HS Science . I currently hold the position of Event Specialist with a non-profit group, The Animal Protection League of South Carolina, we house and protect abused, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats. I have been doing this since 1999. I love my job!!!And I am still happily married to my HS Sweetheart after more than 30 years.

School Story:

When I came to Baker I joined JROTC. I have so many wonderful memories of the times we had down in the Armory. (I had mostly guy friends and we hung out in ROTC most of the time). Funniest memory I have from Baker was Militray Ball 1975. I so wanted to go with this officer named Mike Etheridge, as I was about to ask him, a friend of mine Sandy Maye asked him to take her. Talk about mad, I was livid. At the ball which was at the Marquis, she walked by and I pushed her in the pool evening gown and all. We had a cat fight and all the people were laughing at us. My date Wayne Wilhite (75') was so upset with me at my behavior. I had the best time of my life. Don't know where Sandy is these days but I laugh at this story everytime I tell it. People I'd love to see again.. of course Mike, Ricky Ackeridge, Scott Simken, Mark Jolly, James Crissman, Steve Clay, Gerald Saben (he was so hot, gave me a ride home my freshman year) and Sandy Maye. I'd love to know what she's been up too!! I loved Baker so much, I really missed it and my friends (Scott) when I had to leave.
