Frances Jean Grogan (Powell) - Class Of 1963 VIEW PROFILE

Jean “Rooster” Powell, age 74, resident of Fortson, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at her residence.  Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Alabama.

Mrs. Powell, daughter of the late James Claude Grogan and Alice Lucille Lawrence Grogan, was born July 31, 1945 in Columbus, Georgia.  She graduated from Baker High school and later attended college.  After college, Mrs. Powell worked at CB&T Bank where she was Secretary to the President.  She then began a new career with civil service, faithfully working for several years as the Publications Editor at Fort Benning. 
Mrs. Powell was family oriented and loved the Lord.  Years ago, she enjoyed going fishing and water skiing with her husband.  Mrs. Powell also enjoyed those quality times she had with fellow Baker classmates during luncheons.  The family remembers her as a sweet, inviting lady, always having a smile -  one who made you feel like family.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Powell  was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Ramsey and a brother, James “Jim” Grogan.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Powell of Fortson, Georgia; daughter, Janet Morgan and her husband Michael of Cusseta, Alabama; sister, Judy Grogan of Fort Mitchell, Alabama; two grandsons, Bradley Morgan and Logan Carpenter; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
