Comments:

After Baker: I attended Columbus Tech, got married, had a daughter, spent 2 years in the Army, went to Monmouth College in NJ, lived on my sailboat for 5 years in the summer, lived in a ski area for 5 years in the winter, on the cover of Power mag. as hottest Skiier of the year in 1985, a USCF Cat 2 bicycle racer, Tri-athelete for 6 years. Then I took up Mountaineering and have since been climbing and guiding rock and ice all over the world. I own North America Guide Service and a Construction Mgt Co. called Rock & Wood.
I have been married 3 times and love them all.
I'm still climbing, Mt McKinley last summer, riding, running and staying very fit. Life is good. I'll stop when my heart does.
I may look and be old but still feel very young.
I've also earned a living all these years by guiding and building houses in between all my adventures.

School Story:

I loved Baker and made many friends in school. Playing football there was very special.
Did you all know that Coach Jenkins was the defensive line coach for the Eagles last year?
I played defensive end my freshmen, sophomore and junior years until one practice in spring training. We were doing something called the 22 man drill. It’s where 22 guys line up in single file and 1 person has to run through each of the 22 men one at the time. I wasn’t very big, 6’-160 lbs., and around the 12th guy who hit me, he was huge or it seemed so at the time, (I think it was Ken James), his helmet and mine collided leaving me on the ground stunned with my face mask shattered. It was very hard to get up, my neck was in great pain. Well, Coach Jenkins snatched me up by the remainder of my face mask and chewed me out with all his famous swear words. Because I was slow to respond, Coach Jenkins then make me do something called a 100 yard belly flop. He would run up to me and scream “move your sorry ass, you think your neck hurts, well this will help you forget about that”. I couldn’t take it any longer and told him to shut the f….. up. I was quickly thrown of the football team till the following year when I begged Coach Williams to let me play. He said I could try out for center and I made the team. Must not have had a lot of school talent that year. I wasn’t very good. It was a good thing I was thrown off the team at that time for I had broken my neck and it had healed before the next season. Didn’t know it was broken for about 10 years until I was doing a race Liberty to Liberty, NY to Philly, and was hit by a car on the bicycle leg of the race. I think I was in Camden, NJ. They noticed in the x-rays that I had a previous broken neck.

I still think he was a great coach.
