Dear Lions & Lioness:

The following video presentation promoting the class of 1964 50 year class reunion was supposed to be presented by Jimmy Payne and Paul Voorhees.  Jimmy is taking Chemo treatments and Paul has other health issues also.  Please keep both of them in your prayers.  Enclosed is also the registration form so please fill it and send it along with your check for the appropriate amount.  It is $50.00 per person.  We are all going to have a memorable and a great time.  We need some volunteers to do the deceased members memorial.  Please click on the enclosed You Tube address for the video,  Thanks.

Dear Classmates and Baker Friends:

Our list is starting to grow and October will be here before you know it.  Please send you registration form in so we can plan activities and other items.  The Holiday Inn is now given us a better rate of $69.00 per night which includes breakfast.  I think that it is going to be retroactive for those that already have signed up.  Fifty years comes once in a life time.  We are all blessed to be on this earth already. We are working hard to make this a memorable event.  PLEASE send your registration soon as possible.

The committees is working hard to make this 50 YR Class reunion in October to be a very memorable one, especially since this is the year that our beloved Baker High is no longer a building and also our beloved principal, Mr. Oscar P. Boyles, is also no longer with us.  Our Photographer, James (Bumpy) Lanier and his lovely wife Diane (Storey)’62 will be videoing the entire event and hopefully we will have a DVD for all that attend.  A reminder for those that are coming from out of town to please bring an item or items for door prizes from your area.  We have been talking with some of the committee members this week and they are excited as we are.  October  17 & 18, 2014 is not far off.  Mark October 17 & 18, 2014 on your calendar and commit yourself, because it will be here before you realize it.   Some of the reasons to attend is, “To Keep From Having Regrets later for not attending”  Please classmates, faculty and friends send your registration form in and if you are planning on staying at the Holiday Inn, please call the Holiday In at 1-706-324-0231 and make your reservation now and enjoy the discounted rates.   Attached is the registration form.  Let us know if you can not download it.  We will update you all periodically as to who is coming and any other information on the 1964, 50 yr reunion.  Thanks.

  1. Breakfast at the Holiday Inn.  There will no charge if you are staying at the Holiday Inn.  There will a normal charge for visitors and it is very reasonable and very good.
  2. REGISTRATION from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

c.  From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, (Weather Permitting), swimming and a picnic type of gathering outside by the pool and Gazebo.  Snacks and drinks will be available and if you wish you can order food from the restaurant for a price.  In case of bad weather we will meet in the Hospitality room.

  1. HOTDOG EATING CONTEST:   This contest will not be how many hotdogs can you eat but who can eat one the fastest.  It will be done in categories; Women against women and men against men and then the two winners against each other for the grand winner.  The contest will start at noon by the pool, (weather permitting) if not in the hospitality room.
  2. PICTURES:    We are asking you to be present at the Hospitality Room by 5:00 PM for pictures.  Bumpy Lanier ’59 and his lovely wife, Diane (Storey) Lanier ’62 will be taking still pictures for the DVD.  Please be there promptly as there are many in attendance.

  4. DRESS FOR BANQUET:          This is optional.  Men can dress as elegant, sport coat and/or tie, casual, however you feel comfortable.  Ladies can dress casual or you can dress just as pretty and elegant as you would like.
  5. RAFFLE:      We will have a raffle at 9:00 PM.  Whatever money we collect, we will divide it and draw twice for the winners.
  6. Dance until 12:00 AM.

Sunday October 19, 2011:

  1. Breakfast in a reserved area of the restaurant.  Remember if you are not a guest of the Holiday Inn there will be a charge for breakfast.
  2. Checkout:  This is the saddest part of all.  We had a full weekend and it was like going back to Baker High, feeling like a teenager again and now we have to part again.  We know that some of us will depart in the coming years as we get older.  I know that for most of us the times at Baker were an exciting experience and the best times of our lives and now we have to depart.  It will be somewhat like graduation with tears and sadness to leave our Baker High School and friends.

RESERVATIONS:

We have a block of rooms for $69.00 plus tax per night.  You must have reservation made by September 2014 to get this rate.  The regular rate is $108.00 per night I think.  I would encourage you to make it as soon as possible.  When making your reservation be sure and remind them that you are with the 1964 Baker High School 50Yr. Class Reunion.  The Holiday Inn telephone number is 1-706-324-0231.

A lot of effort has been placed on this Baker High School 50yr. Class Reunion.

COST:    The cost for this event is $50.00 per person.  This will entitle you to free snacks and soft drinks at the hospitality room and banquet.  The place will be decorated appropriately in blue and white.  Some memorable prizes will be given away.  The bar will be open for those who wish alcoholic beverages.  WE PROMISE YOU A GOOD AND MEMORABLE TIME.

Attached is the registration form and the class song if you have forgotten it.  Please return the registration form with your money as soon as possible as we still have planning ahead of us.  Please be considerate of those who are working this event.  Thanks and looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Payne and Sandye (Johnson) Nazario
